To my fellow Copywriters or anyone who wants to earn money writing content.
We can plan our writing success by setting attainable goals over a period of time. A business plan works well. It can take many years to become a successful writer.
"It is important to have small stepping stones along the way," says Kelly Stone. She is the author of Thinking Write.
Goals need to be small stepping stones. If the goals are unrealistic at the beginning then we are setting ourselves up for a lot of frustration, and maybe even failure. Kelly says that those who have goal plans and write them out, are more likely to be successful. Writing will be more rewarding when we set small goals.
For example, a one year goal could be entering a contest. Three years... and five years etc. We need to anticipate obstacles. Each day we can ask ourselves if we have done something today that contributes to our goals. It could be something as simple as writing 100 words a day. Flash fiction is just that. It's telling a story in 100 words or less. One of my goals is to publish a blog post a week, that's a lot, but once you get into a routine it becomes easier.
Goals are best achieved in short steps rather than large ones. Once we achieve shorter goals, it gives us more motivation to keep going.
